When my car gets serviced, the technicians always check off a list of items to ensure all vital parts are in good working order. Even if my concern is limited to something in particular like a simple oil change, they insist on checking off everything on their list.
They made me understand that if all parts of the car do not function correctly in tandem, the one part that I was concerned about may just be the proverbial tip of the iceberg. I have since learned to allow them to take as much time as necessary to check my entire car every few thousand miles.
I find this same approach useful in my life in general. If my car needs a complete check up on regular basis, my life must deserve that too. I won’t have my car for the rest of my life, but I will have my life for as long as I live.
